Using the correct Graphic Design Software will ensure your printed material is produced at optimal quality. Which Graphic Design Software will give you the professional results you’re after?
The answer depends on your needs. You can create a file Microsoft Word, Publisher or Paint, it’s certainly not the preferred software for professional printing purposes. If you supply any of these to a printer, they will have to be converted and/or recreated, as files created on a Microsoft platform can’t produce a file suitable for printing. Jett Print use & recommend programs found in Adobe CS6 ie. Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign. CS6 offers the best Graphic Design Software available.
Below is a guide on what program to use for different results
The word photo in the name is not accident—despite the amazing effects, Photoshop remains the industry standard for photography and web design, i.e. not necessarily print design. Before you turn to Photoshop for Graphic Design, there are a couple of things you need to know: if the document you are creating is text heavy, Photoshop is not suitable for this, it can’t export crisp text, since Photoshop works with pixels, some of your printed graphics may appear jagged, text doesn’t render as well in the pixel environment.
Here’s where things get a little tougher. Both AI and ID play well with print. So how do you know which one will give the best result?
If you plan having a lot of text in your file, choose InDesign. You’ll need to import elements, such as a logo & images etc, you’ll have a much easier time arranging them into a clean layout with this Graphic design Software. Your text will be crisp & clear, and you will also have the ability to easily place files in the future even if you happen to update the originals in Illustrator or Photoshop, you can just simple relink! This will help you keep things organised and improve your workflow.
Illustrator, is perfect for Illustration (funny that!). It’s ideal for creating Logo’s in a vector format. Illustrator is also very useful when you need to edit vector files, ie. A PDF.
Everyday Jett Print uses all of the above programs to easily create files desirable for print. All files are created in their suitable programs, and then mostly everything is imported into InDesign to build the layout & the print ready file is exported from there.
Put simply, look at the names of the Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. They are pretty self-explanatory. It’s important to remember these programs are for professional use, they don’t come cheap & training is required to be able to use them to their best ability. To get the most optimal result, it’s advisable to utilise the skills of a Professional Graphic Designer.
